about project

The Forgotten” is the title of my Final Major Project of Master in Arts (photography). It comprises the trilogy of “Top of the world” (rooftop dwellers), “Down to earth” (street-sleepers) and “We’re no prisoners” (cubicle tenants).

According to 2016 Government statistics, there are 209,700 persons, of 91,800 families, living in subdivided flats, coffin homes, rooftop settlement, and industrial buildings but SOCO (Society for Community Organization) estimates there are more than 250,000 persons.

I am most uncomfortable to see people left out by the prosperity of Hong Kong. They live in substandard conditions. These grass-root people contributed quietly to the development of Hong Kong. Now, they cannot find a decent place to stay. We are living in an affluent society with abundant resources, but it lacks care and concern.

I hope my work would appeal to, not only the lay public, but also to the housing policy makers.
